Catherine King King is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone Dundee in drawing and painting. She has exhibited widely and has had work exhibited in RSA SSA, VAS, PAI, RGI. Her most recent solo exhibitions in Glasgow art club 2022, and 2019 in Stirling Smith Art Gallery.

Her practice is inspired by a connection with Place, family and the passage of Time. Working from life, both in the studio and plein air, the subject matter can vary but drawing is at the heart of her practice. Experienced across numerous printmaking and painting processes she has taught (Mainly part time) in Further and Higher Education throughout her career. Having been able to bring this expertise to students is a source of satisfaction . Working with students has driven her to ensure her own practice stays at the heart of what she does.

In recent periods of lockdown Catherine has taken herself on virtual holidays to the remote corners of Scotland, the outer Hebrides and her favourite paces in Italy. Re-visiting sketchbooks and small works made plein air in those locations.

She is currently exhibiting with Glasgow art Club, Scotlandart.com Glasgow and The Line Gallery Linlithgow and the Lillie Art Gallery and Museum. Catherine has exhibited in Mono City, Japan and has taken part in a touring exhibition with Fife Printmakers in collaboration with Japanese Papermakers. These works have visited various Scottish Public Galleries in including the Carnegie Galleries in Dunfermline and Glasgow Printmakers. Among Catherine’s awards are first prize in Pintar Rapido Glasgow 2015 and the Blythswood Square memorial Quaich from GSWA.

Works in Private and Public and private collections include Fife Acute Hospitals Trust, Forth Valley Royal, Hospital and NES. Catherine is past GSWA President and Director and Secretary of Fife (Dunfermline) printmakers. Until July 2022 she was a part time Lecturer in Contemporary Art specialising in Painting and Printmaking at Forthvalley College. Catherine is an Artist member of Glasgow Art Club and the Scottish Society of Artists.
